Iori proposes a new style of Kyoto stay "Weekly Machiya". Machiya are traditional and actual townhouse, and even now you see some of machiya in Kyoto.Unlike staying in a ryokan where guests just have the use of their own room, at Iori the whole machiya is available, with free use of the kitchen, central rooms with tokonoma and view of the garden, and so forth.
Machiya stay gives you a special time and an insight into what it was really like to live in the city.

One of Iori machiya is located in Sujiya-cho, where is very convenient area to go shopping and sightseeing. The Sujiya-cho machiya is a large and very elegant merchant mansion dating back to the late Meiji period. Once a bean wholesale dealer lived in, so behind of the machiya there are remains of the storehouse.Recently, Sujiya-cho has been outfitted with modern conveniences and decorated with antique Asian art.

The guests of Iori machiya are not only Japanese people but many tourists from abroad. They all enjoy the stay and keep something in memory-some of them feel something nostalgia, others feel exciting the mixture of old and modern style.

Iori also provides original arts program. They offer a hands-on experience of traditional Japanese arts, taught in such a way that participants can appreciate the spiritual wisdom underlying the arts.
This program is held at Iori Arts Dojo, behind Sujiya-cho machiya. The Dojo(arts practics hall)is very rich wooden extensive space. It is worth just seeing.
